K A T O

Katowice to duży temat.
//
Katowice is (are? in Polish the name is plural) a big subject. Main city of Silesia, a region where a lot of people live and even more of Polish GDP is produced, a city traditionally referred to as an ugly, post-industrial disharmony of buildings representing all architectural styles present in this part of the world since the town was settled in the 2nd half of XIX century. Until recently unrecognizable, apart from the massive Spodek auditorium (in the shape of a flying saucer - hence the name), or, until it was recently demolished, the monumental brutalist railway station (http://www.facebook.com/BrutalzKatowic). At the sime time, since recently, one of the fastest-changing places in the country, the "Mecca of hipsters", host of some of the coolest summer music festivals in the country and the capital city of the new Polish design. What kind of city actually is that? Hell knows.

11.11

//
Independence Day (11th of November) in Warsaw is best spent in the open air. Depending on his or her political views, one can choose from a number of marches, demonstrations and rallies. You can spend some private time in the park with your family, or gather with others, amidst the sea of flags in colors of choice (you'd be very wrong to think that only two colors are allowed on that day!), even those who facy a decent dose of adrenaline will find something suitable for their needs.
