Katowice to duży temat. Stolica Śląska, gdzie mieszka sporo ludzi i generuje się jeszcze bardziej spora część polskiego PKB, miasto tradycyjnie określane jako smutne, poprzemysłowe zbiorowisko nieprzystających do siebie budynków, reprezentujących wszystkie style architektoniczne obecne w tej części świata od końca XIX wieku. Do niedawna nierozpoznawalne, poza Spodkiem, oraz, też do niedawna, monumentalnym dworcem PKP. Od niedawna za to jedno z najszybciej zmieniających się miast w kraju, przysłowiowa mekka hipsterów i gospodarz najfajniejszych letnich festiwalu, stolica polskiego dizajnu. Co to właściwie za miasto? Cholera wie.

Katowice is (are? in Polish the name is plural) a big subject. Main city of Silesia, a region where a lot of people live and even more of Polish GDP is produced, a city traditionally referred to as an ugly, post-industrial disharmony of buildings representing all architectural styles present in this part of the world since the town was settled in the 2nd half of XIX century. Until recently unrecognizable, apart from the massive Spodek auditorium (in the shape of a flying saucer - hence the name), or, until it was recently demolished, the monumental brutalist railway station (http://www.facebook.com/BrutalzKatowic). At the sime time, since recently, one of the fastest-changing places in the country, the "Mecca of hipsters", host of some of the coolest summer music festivals in the country and the capital city of the new Polish design. What kind of city actually is that? Hell knows.
